We are seeking applications for fully-funded Post-Doctoral Fellowship positions in our research team at the Douglas Hospital Research Centre of McGill University. The position and training will emphasize the interface between genomics, large data sets, machine learning/AI and neurobiology and mental health with a focus on major depressive disorder. Analyses aim to identify novel, sex-dependent mechanistic pathways for future therapeutic advances. The opportunity involves a unique training experience partnership within a Montreal start-up (Cervolve) in which the candidate will be physically located and interactive within both the academic and industry settings. Cervolve is located within Mila (the world leading AI institute), and here the successful candidate will apply state-of-the-art AI methods to map the molecular correlates of brain-based disorders. This unique training strategy allows for career development experience along both public and private streams. Our research setting includes access to a well-development HPC system with links to major, publicly-accessible large data (e.g., UK Biobank). Our analyses focus on the novel use of transcriptomic data sets, including those (e.g., snRNAseq) created with our research team in model systems. These and publicly-available transcriptomic data are used as the basis for examining the function of tissue- and sex-specific function of gene networks in relation to mental health outcomes. The Douglas research team includes extensive expertise in bioinformatic analyses with genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic data.

Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a related field with a research interest in mental health.
- A background in genomics/molecular analyses is an advantage.
- Essential computing skills (e.g., Python, R).
- Independence in research, creative problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- McGill institutional guidelines mandate individuals must be within 5 years of graduation from a PhD or MD program.
