MISSION

The Vision Restoration Summer School focuses on new concepts and cutting-edge research in vision biology, recovery of function, and restoration. World class faculty will provide insights into a broad range of current topics including corneal regeneration, dry eye and pain, retinal circuit and function, stem cells and photoreceptor replacement strategies, ganglion cell regeneration, vascular dysfunction, brain and perception, vision rehabilitation, and retinal prosthetics.

Our mission comprises three (3) main objectives:

  • To train the next generation of vision scientists by exposing them to inspiring topics in an immersive environment;
  • To provide extensive possibilities for student-faculty interactions and networking;
  • To enhance the ability of students to pursue a successful career in vision science.

TARGET AUDIENCE AND SELECTION PROCESS

This advanced school is aimed at graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and clinical fellows. Students from Canada and abroad are invited to apply.

There are a limited number of spaces available at the summer school. Selection, conducted by the organizing committee, will be based on the quality of the abstract and motivation statement (submitted for registration, deadline: extension until June 1st, 2022.

Students will be informed of the results of the selection process by June 15, 2022

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The summer school will take place over 2 and 1/2 days (3 nights), (July 25th to 28th, inclusive). In all, 10 guest speakers (international and local) will give 1-hour lectures each. Participants must present a poster on their research, and among these, 6 will be selected by the organizing committee to be presented orally (10 minutes maximum).
