March 26, 2020
Dear colleagues and CAN members
In view of the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the CAN board and meeting organizers have made the very difficult decision of cancelling the CAN2020 meeting, scheduled May 31 to June 3, 2020 in Montreal. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to the CAN meeting in Vancouver in May 2021.
The CAN meeting, which has been held yearly since 2007, is a very important community building event for all Canadian neuroscientists. It is a place to share your research, but also to build collaborations, and to strengthen the ties that link us all together. The decision to cancel was not an easy one – our attendees’ health and safety, and public health considerations left us no choice but to reach this conclusion.
In the coming days
- All currently registered attendees will be reimbursed – please allow 7-10 days for reimbursements to appear on your credit card statement.
- Sponsors, exhibitors and satellite meeting organizers will be contacted by our meeting organisation team to review their options
While the CAN meeting is cancelled, note that the CAN team remains active and committed to working for you to promote neuroscience research in Canada and foster collaboration in our community. We thank you for your continued support and membership in our association, which allows us to promote Canadian neuroscience discoveries, organize social events and advocate for increased funding for research in Canada year-round, and provide other services to our memberships, such as advertisement on our website and social media accounts.
The CAN meeting is your meeting. The contributions of all Canadian neuroscientists are what make it special, and so important to our community. We really hope to welcome you all to our 2021 meeting in Vancouver.
Stay safe!
