CAN-ACN Symposia Abstract Submission Information – Parallel Symposium
Open: November 4, 2025 to December 8, 2025
The format of the CAN meeting will consist of:
- morning Plenary Symposia and Distinguished Lectures
- afternoon Parallel Symposia and poster sessions throughout the day
Members in good standing of the Association can submit parallel symposia proposals. We will be openly requesting proposals for Parallel Symposia that cover a wide range of topics in both basic and translational neuroscience.
Parallel Symposia are 1.5 hours long and will be chosen based on scientific merit and whether the topic was not covered recently; a balance of junior and senior faculty, and gender of speakers is encouraged. We encourage applicant to incorporate clinical speakers and a trainee into their panel submission. We also wish to ensure that a wide range of neuroscience topics are represented in various symposia.
Specific criteria to follow
- Only members in good standing can submit a proposal
- Four speakers (Chair may or may not be a speaker)
- Speakers cannot have presented at CAN the previous year. (Recent speakers can act as chair)
- Individuals can only be included as speaker in a single proposal
- Topics should not overlap with plenary symposia and presentations – please review the preliminary program before submission
- While including geographically diverse speakers is encouraged, successful symposia will include Canadian scientists.
Please note we cannot provide any support for travel or other expenses for symposium speakers.
