Call to action for Budget 2018

The Minister of Finance, Bill Morneau, has launched a new consultation for the 2018 budget, which is currently being drafted. We encourage you strongly to participate in this initiative, to convince the government that science funding can’t wait.

We invite you to share personal stories explaining why the government needs to invest in fundamental research in Budget 2018, and why not doing so would have long-term negative effects on the research community, and all Canadians.

We also encourage you to invite other scientists and non-scientists to participate in these consultations in support of fundamental research, to show that this investment is important for all Canadians.

Mobilisation pour le Budget 2018

Le Ministre des finances du Canada, Bill Morneau, a lancé de nouvelles consultations pour le budget 2018, qui est cours de rédaction. Nous vous encourageons fortement à participer à cette initiative, pour convaincre le gouvernement que le financement de la recherche ne peut pas attendre.

Nous vous invitons à partager vos histoires personnelles pour expliquer au gouvernement pourquoi il devrait investir en recherche fondamentale dans le budget 2018, et pourquoi une absence de réinvestissement cette année aurait des effets négatifs et à long terme sur la communauté scientifique, et pour le Canada.

Nous vous encourageons aussi à inviter d’autres scientifiques et non-scientifiques à participer à ces consultations en soutien à la recherche fondamentale, pour montrer que cet investissement importe pour tous les Canadiens.
