Post-doctoral position at University of Alberta to study the role of gangliosides in the biogenesis and fate of neuronal extracellular vesicles

Job Description

A post-doctoral position is available to study the role of glycosphingolipids in the biogenesis, secretion and clearance of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the context of brain health and disease. This is full-time on-site position in the laboratory of Dr. Simonetta Sipione at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada (https://sipionelab.org).

Eligible candidates will be involved in an exciting area of research with clinical relevance.

The project will be developed with a multidisciplinary approach involving the use of biochemical, molecular, cell biology and neurobiology techniques.

Role Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher will lead an independent research project and contribute to collaborative projects within the group. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, preparing manuscripts for publication, and assisting in the development of grant proposals.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in disciplines related to biomedical research.
  • Demonstrated scientific productivity and a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed publications in international journals.
  • Excellent laboratory and research skills.
  • Expertise in confocal microscopy,basic biochemistry and cell biology techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Effective teaching skills, including mentoring students and presenting scientific concepts.
  • Excellent organizational and collaborative skills.
