March for Science, April 22 2017

The Canadian Association for Neuroscience is proud to endorse the March for Science, which is a call to support and safeguard the scientific community, and to reaffirm that science is a non-partisan, fact based endeavour that benefits the whole of humanity. Sustained investment in biomedical and basic research is essential for both a healthy population and economic vitality. CAN is proud to add its voice to that of science promotion associations from around the world, including the Society for Neuroscience, in support of this initiative, which will take place in various locations around the world on Earth Day, April 22, 2017.
We encourage all our members and supporters to participate in their local March for Science. A listing of all Marches taking place in Canada can be found here:

Who will be marching?

“We are people who value science and recognize how science serves. We come from all races, all religions, all gender identities, all sexual orientations, all abilities, all socioeconomic backgrounds, all political perspectives, and all nationalities. Our diversity is our greatest strength: a wealth of opinions, perspectives, and ideas is critical for the scientific process. What unites us is a love of science, and an insatiable curiosity. We all recognize that science is everywhere and affects everyone.”
“The March for Science is an international movement, led by organizers distributed around the globe. This movement is taking place because of the simultaneous realization by thousands of people who value science in their lives that staying silent is no longer an option.”
