Meet the expert sessions


Please note: Attendance limit has been reached - registration is no longer possible

New, for students, post-docs and junior faculty in the first or second year of appointment. Privileged session with leading experts in their fields in which active and lively discussion will be encouraged.

Attendance will be limited to a maximum of 50 to allow interactivity, so online registration is mandatory, and places will be attributed on a first-come basis. There is no extra cost associated with registration for these sessions.

2013 CAN Satellite meeting: Neuroscience careers in government and industry

This 1-day satellite will take place Tuesday May 21st, from 9:30AM to 4:00PM (preceding the opening of the CAN meeting), at the Sheraton Toronto Centre Hotel.

The meeting will consist of short presentations from leading speakers from various sectors, discussing how they got to where they are, and offering advice to trainees interested in entering industry or government. Ample time will also be provided for informal interactions with the speakers

Registration is only open to students and post-docs, and costs 50$

Conference Registration fees:

CAN-ACN members pay reduced registration fees for the Annual Conference. In an effort to encourage participation of as many students as possible, CAN has reduced student registration fees by 50$ relative to previous year fees. Students are also still eligible for student travel awards. The fee structure (in Canadian dollars) for the Annual Meeting is as follows:

Registration Cancellation Policy

Cancellations for the CAN-ACN Annual Conference received prior to May 6, 2013 receive a full refund less a $50 service charge. After May 6st no refunds will be provided.

CAN and the Sheraton have entered an agreement that provides benefits to CAN which has allowed us to reduce registration fees for students this year. If trainees share a room it will only cost $85 per person. Booking your room at the Sheraton allows you to:

  • take advantage of the preferential rates we have negotiated,
  • be present at the venue without commute for early morning sessions,
  • be present for many informal networking opportunities at breakfast and meals, and
  • helps CAN financially as each room booked by meeting attendees counts towards keeping costs down.

Room sharing

If you are interested in a room share with another CAN member to keep costs down, please contact Jude Ross with your name, email address the dates you’ll be checking in and checking out, and we can put you in touch with other members who wish to room share.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations from the guest must be received 72 hours prior to arrival or they must forfeit a one night deposit.
