Postdoctoral Position in Translational Neuroscience – Orser Lab

We invite highly motivated and responsible candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in translational neuroscience. This position is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a position in Dr. Beverley Orser’s laboratory (, which is located at the University of Toronto. The research program focuses on the role of GABA-A receptors in regulating network plasticity and memory performance in health and disease.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in neuroscience with excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to the team environment. Experience in electrophysiology (in vitro or in vivo) is required. Extensive experience in whole-cell patch clamp recording in brain slices is preferred. Other experience in optogenetic, imaging, and animal behavioral assays is also an asset. The candidate should have a good record of scientific publications.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Design and perform experiments associated with the CIHR-funded research program, analyze data and generate figures, write up manuscripts and submit them for publication.
  2. Assist training of students.
  3. Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.
