Human studies on mechanisms of general anesthesia
We have an active program in the investigation of anesthetic action in human subjects using both surface and intracranial EEG. Our immediate goal is to characterize the EEG changes associated with the progressive loss of volitional control caused by general anesthetics. Our ultimate objective is to understand how general anesthetics cause unconsciousness. The environment includes clinical anesthesiologists and basic researchers within very active imaging, neurological, and neuroscience research centers.
Requirements : Applicant should have a PhD degree with training in electrophysiology and signal processing. Mastery of Matlab is also required. Experience with brain imaging would be a strong asset.
