Dr. Leigh Anne Swayne is an Associate Professor in the Division of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria. Dr. Swayne is a cell biologist whose research aims to bridge critical knowledge gaps in our understanding of large, complicated proteins called ion channels in the brain and heart. She is supported by a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research and BC Schizophrenia Society Scholar Award, and her lab currently operates with funding from CIHR, NSERC, and the Scottish Rite. The Division of Medical Sciences hosts a highly productive, well-funded, and interactive group of neuroscientists with state-of-the-art equipment (www.uvic.ca/medsci/).
