2018-05-07 40th International Symposium of the GRSNC 2018

We are pleased to announce the 40th symposium of the Groupe de Recherche sur le Système Nerveux Central (GRSNC) which is entitled “The multifaceted control of locomotion – Homage to Serge Rossignol”. This one day symposium will take place on May 7, 2018 at the Université de Montréal and will honour the contribution of Dr Serge Rossignol to spinal cord research and the control of locomotion on the occasion of his retirement. This symposium will be organised by Drs Numa Dancause, Trevor Drew, Réjean Dubuc and Jean-Pierre Gossard.

About the Symposium

The symposium will bring together several leaders in the field of spinal cord research and the control of locomotion, including Drs. Sten Grillner, Robert M. Brownstone, Lorne Mendell and Larry Jordan. In addition, a number of his former trainees will speak on this special occasion (see attached preliminary program).

The symposium will address new advances in our understanding of the neuronal mechanisms underlying the control of locomotion. The speakers will discuss locomotor control in a number of different species, extending from lampreys to humans and will address the contribution of different structures ranging from the spinal cord to the cerebral cortex. A particular emphasis will be placed on the neural mechanisms that contribute to the recovery of function following spinal cord injury.
