The Vision: Science to Applications (VISTA) program seeks applications for up to 4 Postdoctoral Fellowships at York University, Toronto, Canada. The topic of research must fall within VISTA’s mandate, which is to support fundamental and applied vision research that combines biological and computational perspectives and has translational potential for health, industry, or other applications.
VISTA is a program funded by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund that will enable York University, and its partners, to accelerate York’s already world-class vision research. VISTA involves five York faculties, seven research centers (including the Centre for Vision Research), and over 50 partners in the international research community and non-academic sectors such as healthcare and private industry.
VISTA Fellows require a PhD in a discipline appropriate for the VISTA program (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, computer science, engineering, philosophy, film, or a medical discipline). The PhD must be completed by the start date, and held no longer than three years prior to the expected start date. Applicants must be sponsored by at least one proposed supervisor from this list of VISTA core faculty (http://vista.info.yorku.ca/vista-researchers/). Fellowships will be awarded competitively based on the strength of the candidate, the strength of the research proposal, and fit with the goals of the VISTA program. Up to four candidates will be awarded a minimum salary of $55,000 CAD/year plus benefits for up to two years (with a possibility to reapply for an additional year) and will each receive an annual allowance of $7,500/year for research and $1,000/year for networking and meetings. For complete application procedures, see the VISTA website (http://vista.info.yorku.ca/).
Closing date for the competition: September 6, 2017.
VISTA welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, including individuals within the University’s employment equity categories of women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and aboriginal persons, individuals of diverse gender and sexual orientation and all groups protected by the Human Rights Code. The VISTA Team is committed to equity and diversity across the program, and to a positive and supportive environment.
