Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Translational Neuroscience and Perioperative Sciences Programs – Orser lab, University of Toronto

A postdoctoral position in translational neuroscience is available in the Departments of Anesthesia and Physiology in the laboratory of Dr. Beverley Orser (www.orserlab.com) at the University of Toronto. Our research focuses on the role of GABA-A receptors in regulating network plasticity, memory, and mood disorders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a program that identifies cell signaling pathways involved in memory disorders or a program that studies behavior as it relates to cognition in rodents. Candidates will also be responsible for assisting undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualified candidates should have experience in biochemistry, proteomics, biomarker research and/or behavioral and computational methods. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Prior experience with electrophysiology, optogenetic, and animal behavioral assays are assets. The candidate must possess a good record of scientific publications, organizational skills, self-motivation and the ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.
