The Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine&. Dentistry at the University of Alberta, invites applications for an Assistant Professor (contingent tenure-track) position in an area of research congruent with the Vision of the Department as a leader in pharmacology research and teaching.

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Alberta has strengths in neuropharmacology, cardiovascular
pharmacology, molecular pharmacology, and pharmacology of metabolic disorders. It has well-established undergraduate and graduate degree programs and access to extensive state-of-the-art core facilities within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. As part of an integrated health campus, the Faculty of Medicine&. Dentistry also offers excellent translational research opportunities. The successful candidate is expected to establish an innovative research program in an area of pharmacology that is compatible with existing strengths. The successful candidate is also expected to teach pharmacology at the graduate and undergraduate levels, actively recruit and supervise graduate students, and develop collaborations with fellow researchers throughout Canada and abroad. Applicants are required to have a BSc and/or PhD (or equivalent) degree in pharmacology, and have undertaken a minimum of two years post-doctoral training. Applicants shou Id also provide clear evidence for their ability to develop their own research program and have an excellent publication record.

The main North Campus, where the Department of Pharmacology is situated, overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley and downtown Edmonton.
