Assistant Professor – Neurotoxicology – University of Guelph

The Department of Biomedical Sciences, Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), University of Guelph is seeking applications to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Neuroscience at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants must have a PhD degree and must have a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in toxicological effects on nervous system function, however, outstanding researchers in any field of neuroscience will be considered. Applicants with an established record of success in research, teaching, including graduate or undergraduate student supervision, and evidence of effective communication and leadership skills are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative atmosphere among faculty with a research focus in neuroscience, to provide research and teaching to the newly established Collaborative Program in Neuroscience. Teaching obligations will be to deliver both Neuroscience and Toxicology lectures to undergraduate and graduate students. Establishment of an independent research program consistent with the research goals of the Department and College is expected. They will independently acquire sufficient funds to support training of graduate students at the MSc and PhD level.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences is responsible for delivering professional and specialist undergraduate education, and research training, in four main interdisciplinary fields: Reproductive Biology and Development, the Cellular and Molecular Basis of Disease (with particular emphasis on Cardiovascular disease and Cancer), Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Neuroscience. In addition to courses in the DVM and BSc programs, the Department offers graduate course-based Masters, and thesis-based MSc and PhD programs in each of the departmental discipline fields.
